Back to School Bash 2026: Free Kids' Vision Screenings Before School Starts

The start of a new school year is just around the corner, and Tahlequah Family Vision Clinic is excited to welcome local families to our annual Back to School Bash!

Join us on Saturday, August 1, for a fun community event designed to help children start the school year seeing their very best. As always, we'll be offering FREE vision screenings for kids by appointment, along with school supply giveaways (while supplies last), face painting, kids' activities, prize drawings, exclusive eyewear discounts, snacks, drinks, and an inflatable slide for the kids to enjoy.

Why Are Vision Screenings So Important?

Many parents are surprised to learn that children don't always realize they're having trouble seeing. Kids often assume everyone sees the way they do, which means vision problems can go unnoticed for months—or even years.

In fact, good vision is essential for learning. Children rely on their vision for reading, writing, using computers, participating in class, and even playing on the playground. When a child has an undetected vision problem, it can sometimes appear as difficulty concentrating, falling behind in school, or avoiding reading.

Our free Back to School Bash vision screenings are designed to help identify potential concerns early. While a screening is not a replacement for a comprehensive eye exam, it can detect signs that a child may need additional evaluation by an eye doctor. Early detection gives families the opportunity to address vision issues before they begin affecting classroom performance and everyday activities. Comprehensive pediatric eye exams are the best way to evaluate vision, eye health, focusing, and eye coordination.
